This week, Troop Guide Lilly will be available at 6:20 before the Troop meeting to do the Tenderfoot fitness requirement 6a or 6c.  Scouts who are participating should meet her in the parking lot across the street (parking lot by the Stringfellow School entrance), bring water and wear athletic clothing (class b is preferred if available) with running shoes.  They may also want to bring a towel or yoga mat for situps and pushups.  We'll have our PLC meeting at 6:45.  During the meeting, scouts will continue this month's focus on national symbols with a presentation about the national anthem and pledge, and play a game.  Please note, the Aviation merit badge session for Sunday has been cancelled and will be rescheduled due to weather.  Wait list opportunities for high adventure are available for 2027, as are slots for our 2026 Philmont trek.  Please reach out and let us know if you're interested!  See you Thursday!

This week at our scout meeting, scouts will continue their focus on flag etiquette and respecting our nation's symbols by learning about the history for our flag, designing a flag, and playing a game.  Scouts will also plan the upcoming lock-in on Friday, January 30th and give an update about the Webelo AOL recruiting activity scheduled for Saturday, January 30th.  Please sign up if you're available for these upcoming events, as well as our merit opportunities for the Personal Fitness Merit badge and Aviation Merit badges (see full details on our calendar).  Mrs. Stephens will be available to have a discussion with interested scouts about their eligibility to participate in these classes and to sign blue cards.  Last, but not least, we will have an update on our Troop's efforts to secure High Adventure slots for summer 2027 and the process for signing up.  We hope you will be able to come!  The PLC will meet at 6:45 this week.

I'm so excited to get the scouting year started, as we have our first meeting of the year on Thursday!  This month, the scouts have decided to focus on the flag, its's use, and proper care.  Scouts will focus on learning how to respect it, especially in situations like flag ceremonies. Scouts will also firm their preferences for High Adventure 2027 this week, so we'll be ready for next week's registrations.  We look forward to spending time with you on Thursday!  Please come and talk with me to get a blue card if you are interested in starting the Aviation or Personal Fitness merit badges, which are scheduled to begin January 25th.

We will assist the Lions Club this Thursday with a service project where scouts will sort and pack food.  Please meet us in our normal meeting location at 7 p.m. and be prepared for an active meeting.  I will be happy to sign off on a service hour for your effort for scouts who bring a form.  The Patrol Leader's Council (PLC) will meet at 6 p.m.  This will be our last meeting of 2025.  We hope to see you there!

I'm so excited about this Thursday's meeting!  There will be scout and adult gift exchanges, snacks, and ornament decorating for the scouts.  Scouts attending the winter camp will have a short meal-planning meeting.  We will also accept paperwork for Winter Camp (see Mrs Stephens’ email for details).
