Scouts should come packed and ready for this weekend's campout on Thursday.  The scouts will play a game to check the contents of their packs and load into the trailers in preparation for the campout.  They will also learn climbing knots and other information about ropes and climbing gear to prepare for this weekend's campout.  Scouts in the Patrol Leader's Council should arrive by 6:45 for their pre-meeting meeting.  Please note, registration, payment, and merit badge course selection for Winter Camp is due on November 13th (please see emails sent on 11/2 and 11/4 with more information) and on November 20th for our Mission Tejas campout.  I'd like to extend a BIG thank you to all of our scouts and families who came out to help with the tent rehab and trailer organization for the campout.  I LOVE seeing you invest your time to help our Troop run well!

Weekly Update for October 30th Featuring Tent Rehab day Nov 1st

Posted by cstephens1 on Oct 29 2025 - 10:34pm

This week is our PLC's hour-long planning session beginning at 6 p.m.  During the meeting, the scouts plan to do their meal planning for the upcoming TRJ campout, work on advancements, and play a game.
Our Quartermasters would like to put out a special invitation for our Tent Rehab day that we'll have on Saturday, November 1st beginning at 12 p.m.  On our last campout, many of our scouts experienced the unpleasant experience of a leaky tent and want to do something about it!  We want to give the tents some TLC and have purchased Nikwax Tent & Gear Solarwash and Solarproof and some seam repair glue as our products of choice to tackle the problem.  This will be a learning opportunity for your scouts, as well as a way to give back to our Troop and help protect their future camping experiences.  Have experience with waterproofing tents and would be willing to help teach?  We need you! I have not done this process before, but have watched the Nikwax how to video.  I'd love some backup from an experienced adult or scout!  Please sign up on the Troop website!

We will meet outdoors this week for our gathering, as the church is preparing for an event.  Scouts are welcome to wear their class b t-shirt in lieu of their Class A, unless they are leading the flag ceremony or participating in a scoutmaster conference or board of review.  Scouts attending this weekend's campout at Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge should bring their packed bag for a pack check.  Please see the email sent by Mrs. Stephens on Sunday for more information about packing list.  The Quartermasters will go ahead and load packs in the trailers after they are checked.  Scouts also plan to have activities related to the buddy system and patrols at the meeting.  The PLC should meet at 6:45 to prepare for the meeting.  Scouts have the opportunity to sign up for Winter Camp now!  The program guide is being released this week and spots are already filling fast!  I'll see you tomorrow!
