Weekly update for July 2nd

Posted by cstephens1 on Jun 27 2026 - 9:59pm

Hello Troop Family!  We will not have a scout meeting this Thursday, July 2nd due to scouts attending Camp Constantin, but we will have two scouting events this weekend as part of our July America 250 Celebration!  On Saturday, scouts will gather at Andy Brown West at 5:30, then walk over to Andy Brown East to watch fireworks and participate in festivities.  Then the next day, scouts will get together again at 3 p.m. at the same location to help with the cleanup after the festival.  Both activities fulfill requirements of the Scouting America's Liberty in Action Award that the scouts plan to complete at Thursday meetings and extra events in the month of July.  More information about this patch is available at https://www.scouting.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Liberty_in_Action_A250_Challenge_Final.pdf. We will see everyone back together on July 9th for our next scout meeting!

Update for June 25th Meeting

Posted by cstephens1 on Jun 23 2026 - 10:00am

Hello Troop Families! June has been a month of adventure, and I look forward to our scouts getting to share about their experiences at Camp Constantin, Philmont, and NYLT. This Thursday, we will have another outdoor meeting, using the time to prep the Troop trailer and pack for the second round of summer camp. Week 4 Constantin scouts should bring their trunks for inspection and packing. As a reminder, we are wearing Class Bs to meetings, but scouts attending Camp should make sure to have their Class As for travel to and from camp and for flag ceremonies. We won’t meet next Thursday (July 2nd), but will have an opportunity to enjoy the fireworks together on July 4th!

Update for June meetings

Posted by cstephens1 on Jun 8 2026 - 1:19pm

The remaining meetings for the month of June will be largely influenced by summer camp plans!  This Thursday, June 4th,  acting camp SPL Kate Goss and acting camp scoutmaster Mrs. Carol Shen will lead preparations for week 2 of Camp Constantin summer camp.  This meeting will be conducted outdoors and consist of a trunk check and packing, practicing assembly and disassembly of bug nets and cots, and review of logistics for departure on Sunday.  The meeting may not last to the normal completion time, so parents of scouts attending should stay on site instead of dropping off their scouts for the evening.  They may appreciate bringing a lawn chair to sit.  As scouts will travel to camp wearing their class a uniforms, we request they not pack it in their trunk with their other items and keep it to wear on Sunday morning.  We will have similar activities on June 25th for the scouts attending week 4 at Camp Constantin.  We will not have scout meetings on June 18th and July 2nd due to the Troop's participation at summer camp.  Look for a future email with information about joining the troop for fireworks on July 4th at Andy Brown Park and helping with a trash pickup on July 5th as scouts complete requirements toward the America 250 Anniversary Challenge award and develop citizenship within our Coppell community.

Update for June 4th Meeting

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer break! This week, the PLC will meet at 6:45. Please return troop gear and bring any missing medical or registration forms to help us prepare for summer camp. At the meeting, scouts will go through a packed trunk to review necessary and recommended equipment for summer camp. There will also be an opportunity to complete environmental presentations.  Please look at volunteer opportunities for Saturday to help at Aashika’s Eagle Car Wash as well as opportunities to help at LLELA during the first two weeks of June!

Update for May 28th meeting

Posted by cstephens1 on May 27 2026 - 4:24am

Hello families! I hope summer break is going well! This week, our PLC will meet at 6:45 to prepare for the Troop meeting. Families of scouts attending summer camp should bring any remaining paperwork to the meeting (medical forms, emergency plan acknowledgement forms for youth, adult state compliance forms, adult SYT and hazardous weather training certificates). Scouts will present their environmental presentations for completion of rank requirements. We have begun pricing, reserving, and advertising campouts and activities for the coming year based on the PLC’s recent annual calendar planning meeting.  Of particular note are events that we need to get a headcount now to purchase the right number of spots, including the Aqua Adventures campout at Camp Constantin in August 2026, the Kansas salt mine mining and geology merit badge sleepover in December, and our far option summer camp option at Camp Merriwether for July 2027. Please look for recent emails from Mr Eden for more information and let us know if you want to go by registering on the Troop website. Final update, we have opportunities for service hours through Aashika’s Eagle car wash fundraiser on June 6th and childhood education opportunities the first two weeks of June. Please check Troop calendar for more information and to sign up!

Weekly Update for May 21

Posted by cstephens1 on May 20 2026 - 5:53am

We will have a parent meeting to discuss summer camp during our Troop meeting this week.  We would like at least one parent of each scout who will attend camp to join us.  Our PLC will meet at 6:45 for their meeting. During the meeting, the scouts who are attending the Dinosaur Valley State Park campout will conduct their meal planning and the scouts will discuss the hiking essentials.  There is also an opportunity for scouts to give their environmental presentations to fulfill requirements. This will be the last meeting before the break where scouts will wear their full uniform.  From Memorial Day to Labor Day, scouts are welcome to wear their class b shirts and olive shorts/pants/skorts to meetings, as long as they are not planning to lead flags, have their scoutmaster conference, or conduct their board of review.  We request they wear their full uniform including tan shirts and merit badge sash for those activities.
