Troop 848 provides learning, service and leadership opportunities for young women in Coppell, Texas and the surrounding areas as part of the Scouts BSA program.

Weekly Update for August 27

This Thursday, the scouts will do a review of the Aqua Adventures campout and play a water safety bottle flip game.  Scouts who are interested in serving in a position of responsibility next term should complete a leadership application and return to Mrs. Stephens on Thursday.  Thursday is also the deadline to turn in rank advancements and merit badge blue cards with Dr. Mavalli for recognition in the September 10th Court of Honor.  We'll have our 1-hr PLC planning meeting from 6-7 p.m. to plan our September meetings and upcoming campouts.  We look forward to seeing you on Thursday!

Troop update for August 20th Meeting

This week we will learn about water safety in preparation for our Aqua Adventures activity this weekend and play the reach, throw, row, go game. The PLC will meet at 6:45 to prepare for upcoming activities, including finalizing plans for the weekend’s Aqua Adventures. It will be your last week to pick up an application form for leadership position from Mrs Stephens, then you’ll need to print it off of the Troop website. It is also one of the last weeks to get signoffs on rank advancement and merit badges before the August 27th deadline for recognition at the Court of Honor. Be prepared! We look forward to seeing you this week and hearing about your new school year adventures!

Weekly Update for Aug 13th

We’re so excited to welcome our families back for a new scout year and hear how everyone’s first few days of school went.  We’ll also resume wearing our scout class A uniforms. Scouts who are working on the Citizenship in Community merit badge will have the opportunity to get their blue cards signed off by Mrs Kippes, so come prepared with your documentation of your work. The PLC will meet at 6:45.  As a reminder, Leadership applications, rank advancement, and merit badge blue cards are all due August 27th.  Leadership applications and service hour forms are found in the files folder under the menu on the Troop website.  Have a great first week of school!

Weekly update for August 6th Meeting

This Thursday, scouts will learn about different boats including rowboats, canoes, and kayaks and try their luck at a nautical competition in preparation for the Aqua Adventures campout later this month. Mrs Goss will also be available to answer questions about this year’s popcorn fundraiser and help families with registration issues. Deadlines to submit merit badge and rank completions as well as applications for the next round of leadership applications are approaching at the end of the month. The PLC will meet at 6:45. Check our calendar and sign up for merit badge offerings, camping trips, service opportunities, and our Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops training in October.  Participants going to Northern Tier will have a kickoff meeting on Sunday at 3 pm at Melt Creamery before the Committee Meeting at 4 pm.  See you Thursday for our last meeting of summer break!

Update for July 30

Scouts will have their water day this Thursday evening. We will meet outside, and scouts should bring water toys and wear clothing that they don’t mind getting wet and shoes they can safely move in. Scouts in the PLC will meet at 6:45 for their pre meeting meeting. We have made changes to our volunteer opportunities for August, moving the August 8th volunteer opportunity at Stringfellow School and adding opportunities to help Nandita and Aashika with their Eagle Projects on August 2nd and 8th. We also have signups live for our August campout opportunity at Aqua Adventures at Camp Constantin.

Weekly Update for July 23rd

Hello! This week scouts will have an opportunity to complete the Liberty in Action emblem and discuss plans for next week’s water day (get those water toys ready!). The PLC will meet at 6 pm to plan for August. Scouts should review upcoming August events like the Stringfellow school service project and Aqua Adventures camping event. Families can also register to participate in the upcoming popcorn fundraiser.  Make the most of these last few weeks of summer vacation!
